Figured I'd start a new thread on here and not hijack the MOM thread since it seem's there is in interest in RC I'll start out with some pic's of some new plane's I got.

The Se5a fly's great. The Albatross hasn't flown yet. I'm waiting for better weather.

There were Question's on the MOM thread I would rather answer here so we don't take up that thread....feel free to ask again...and joke away on here I don't mind...if it get's away from RC it'll alway's swing back...

I grew up flying r/c but haven't found much time for it lately. Maybe I get back into it when my daughter gets old enough to really enjoy it. Anyways, I've flown a little bit of everything from rubber-powered free flights to 3d aerobatics.

I have always wanted an r/c airplane but could never find one that I wanted. Someday maybe...

Details? Mostly electric? Nice hangar of planes. And workroom!

I flew nitro engines back before marriage and kids, back before electrics got so good and servos got so light and teenie. Kaos 40 (OS 46 w pipe), and a biplane called a Dreamer out of the 1980's Tower Hobbies catalogue (YS45 w shorty pipe, what a screamer). Mostly flew helis for a while, Schulters and Kalt, 60's and 40'se. Did ok in intermediate class contests, but got my butt kicked when I moved up to FAI. Rep'd for Schluter for a couple years.

I'd love to get my hands on an electric heli with collective pitch and thrust bearings, fly some 3D in the yard. But I do remember trying to learn inverted hover back in the day... a lot of $$ spent on parts! Or maybe I'll get an easy flying electric plane for the yard and get my daughters interested.

It's way easier to get into now Jacob. You can get a 3d capable electric with a brushless motor and speed control ready to bind to your radio or a ready to fly with a cheap radio (transmitter) provided.

These plane's in this pic are small. some are 3d capable some have ducted fan's. the Mig and sabre are ducted fan's. The red biplane (beast) and the black and white plane to the left are good 3d plane's. the black and white plane is the Sbach... there are better plane's out there now...they fly in a gym or tight places you outa check it out.

I still have my gasser's.. I've been getting into alot of electrics...It's easier to plug a battery in before work and get some flight time in.
I have a T rex V2 parked on that wall there also...(heli) I've planted it a few time's....they are money hogs...lol there are also some smaller heli's in the photo they are 3d capable with collective pitch (Blade Mcpx) small enough to fly inside...I'll get a pic...

Don't think RC is out of your reach....find a club and someone will help you learn to fly...
I taught myself....unless you have lot's of room and a wife with a good job I wouldn't suggest my way

Not sure where to start.....I wanted one that takes fuel. Not sure on the size, but would like one that is similar to a fighter plane.....I really new to the r/c plane hobby...I have had the battery operated planes etc....would like to move up a notch

I got two RC planes for Christmas.A Spitfire and a Flying Tigers plane.

I have an E-Flite Ultimate biplane but I haven't flown it much the cg still isn't quite right for 3d. If I can find the charger and transmitter I might go out and blow the dust off of it. Here's a pic of one
I also have a Christian Eagle that needs recovered. My dad has tons of racers, gliders, and u-control. He has a Tweety Bird 25 (40 now) its a totally overpowered BEAST! I think he's afraid to fly it anymore lol reflexes aren't what they used to be.

Wow Dent, quite a selection! I thought that was a T-Rex on the wall, also see the little yellow bird that I first started out with, the E-flight forget what name. It was the first electric helicopter I bought. Then of course upgraded to the T-Rex series.

Have not flown in it years. Ohh the memories of hard landings, having to re-adjust all the linkages, making sure nothing was bent. You are right about expensive. Running the to hobby store and having to get more part due to rough landings, charging the lipos off portable battery packs.

Wish I had the time to spend on it again.

Don't count the battery operated plane's you get at wal'mart or toy's r us...the one's I have are different...More control and part's are avialable for the unavoidable crash
If you have a flyng club close by go check it out...I consider it like golfing. Depending on where you are at you will make lot's of friends and sometime's opportunity arises...
I would hate to suggest anything with out knowing your experience General.
I do know alot of people these day's are using RC flight simulators. I have on, an older one and the plane's act just like the real one's... I used it to get used to Helicoptors. Works great.

M4tin, look into something like the Blade Mcpx. It's small and collective pitch...although there maybe better now....they are not as expensive....I got 2

First My 12 year old daughter must have a hamgurger and it better be cooked on the grill....

I used to travel the country performing, so I always had a glider with me. Strap on electric pod for assist, if needed. I've had the pleasure of flying in Central Park, beaches in NC, Vail, Meteor Crater, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, California beaches/cliffs, Golden Gate Bridge, & many places in between. Glider flying is quiet & with practice, you can catch it. No landing required!

A "2 X 6" is a perfect starter plane. Inexpensive, easy to build/repair, & you can add a disposable camera (panoramic) under the wing for great pics (cheap, too).

I started out with a sophisticated lady (carl goldberg)design. I think I spelled that correctly...Glider's are lot's of fun also...

My brother has an Airtronics Olympic 2 that he bought from one of my dads friends who won a national championship with it.

Airtronics olympic 2? I'm guessing that's a transmitter, maybe.
I never got into any competition's. My wife alway's pushed me too. But the just not good enough thought kept getting in the way.

Here's a gasser in repair...Had a loud thumping at full throttle came in cross runway full speed for a landing and there was a loud boom from the plane. The left aileron departed the plane and the plane rolled the opposite way I was turning. I gained some controll and hit the ground wheel's down and the thing split in 2 at the fuselage
Motor is OS 55ax Max
Radio is a JR 9503, comupterized...allow's me to split elevator into aileron's in the back...I think that's what saved me.
system is 2.4 ghz not FM

Gasser's are my favorite. But electrics allow me time to fly 20minutes before I have to head out to work.

ummm is this just on planes because i have seebn some pretty sick ships.

they are the Blade Mcpx... I have them binded to my JR 9503 transmitter

When I was in California, I got to see Larry Jolly fly helos. He used to do model flying for movies. Amazing talent!

About your picture's Paul. I have been flying camera's since the early 90's..Since I never got a pilot's license it was my way of getting up there...Maybe I'll post some of those I'll wait and see how the thread does..

I built a big tainer and made it a tail dragger.. I can drop rolls of toilet paper, parachuter's, ping pong balls (my personnal favorite) and take pictures with many different camera's..

I built a 1/4 scale "TeleMaster" once. 4 stroke. You could lift a baby with it!
My current favorite is an 11' glider. Cliff flying is great here. Consistent sea breeze begins about 1 o'clock every day. Check my location map. I've gone from Newport to Jamestown off slope into thermals. It looks like a blade of grass sideways. NO SUDDEN CONTROL MOVEMENTS, PLEASE!

I have the small 40 size telemaster...alway's wanted that big monster....
11' slope glider..Nice... I had a Zagi back in the day I used to carry around in the hills of washington and oregon. If you find the right spot you could fly for hour's. It was just a small flying wing...maybe 3 feet across I think..

The big one will fit the baby IN the fuselage. And the 4-stroke sounds sooo real. It's easy to fly, too. I let new folks fly it with no experience. (2 mistakes high, of course)

Oughtn't there be a way to sync the smart phone gyro controls with a camera equipped remote aircraft? Or is that too close for comfort to military drone tech?

Im more into helis.yes theyre expensive cos they crash way too often or is that my lack of control.i probably enjoy the building and setting up rather than the flying.I have a Trex 450se v2.

it's allready out there. You can purchase one yourself. download the app and fly and film.
