Just thought it would be nice to have a place to talk about anything firearms related. I have been very interested in surplus military firearms for a number of years, especially after they became so plentiful and inexpensive due to veritable flood of them into market. Russia for example had stockpiled many military arms long ago that are now considered obsolete. They needed the money which meant that it was now possible to buy some very nice specimens for rediculously low prices. I took advantage of this. I have old military rifles from many countries and different eras. I especially have an affinity for the venerable old British Enfield in all of it's variations. ;)

Yes, the 32 caliber has a very long history and is still with us. I have a 32auto pistol that is good for deep concealment.

Hm i should have taken the picture of all 3 of them away from the closet. I think the junk in the back ground over powers the guns.

I can't handle the recoil on guns :S
We liberate from our negative will to nothingness, and once having said yes to the instant, the affirmation is contagious. It bursts into a chain that knows no limit. To say yes to one instant is to say yes to all of existence.

Those looks great oedius!

I myself (vintage rifles wise) own a Mosin Nagant 91/30. It was one of the Russian models made before the cheaper materials were being used in WWII. There were a few dings in the stock, but after some careful sanding and finish -- it looks brand new.

Only thing I didn't like about it was having to clean ALL the freakin' cosmoline off of it. Holy crap. For those who don't know, the USSR coated rifles that they were putting away in storage/selling in a substance called "cosmoline". It smells awful. But it protects the wood and gun metal from deterioration.

Anyways -- getting that stuff off is a real pain, hahahah. But at least I learned how to completely field strip the rifle that way.

I think the Ruger 10/22 is an excellent starter rifle. Extremely reliable and pretty damn universal in use. But once you want to move up in the calibers, I recommend everyone should purchase a good ol' Mosin Nagant. They run about $100 for an excellent conditioned one and the 7.62x54r rounds are CHEAP. They're also about the same size as a 30-06 and give a bit more kick.

Only downside is that most of the rounds are corrosive. So after shooting, you'll have to put some ammonia/barrel cleaner down the chute so you don't screw up your barrel. :P

Ya that cosmoline stuff is difficult to get rid of. We haven't gone and got it off of the M16s yet because we are stilling looking for ammo lol. My aunts took the one we did get the cosmoline off of it and lost 500 rounds of ammo in her house some were lol. Once you get around 80 you forget were you put stuff 10 years ago.

Oh? I never knew they applied cosmoline to synthetic stocks -- or Viet Nam era weapons. :P

Ah, I love shooting XD's. But ugh -- I cannot stand Taurus' handgun line. The bloody things aren't manufactured with precision resulting in jams and major malfunctions. I've met two separate people on opposite sides of the globe whom had their Taurus blow up in their hand (one of which lost a finger). Same thing goes for Glocks in my opinion. Yeah, they look cool and are hold up incredibly well in rough conditions (I once heard you could submerge a Glock underwater and still fire it. The same day I went and tested it and confirmed -- you can fire them underwater!). But gosh, when they malfunction -- IT IS BAD. One shooting range I went to showed me 4 of their Glocks that had such a malfunction. The barrel literally split and the slide shot off backward -- nearly missing the four separate people shooting it. They said that if it would have hit -- it would have easily gone into their heads.

So yeah. I don't buy Taurus (from personal experience) or Glocks (for what I've seen). :P
