Try digging a large tunnel, then when you think your in the middle dig a large room and stuff it with dynamite. Put in an electric fuse, then connect that to an igniton mechanism, press the button and your plain will fly!!

(only works once tough)

On the plane matter, have you tried moving the throttle? Or maybe it just needs some mental encouragement...
