Once you land on carrier and attempt to drive your plane on it, it takes a few seconds, but the timer will shut off and wont turn back on till you take off and land again. It shuts off quick enough to where you cant even turn around in the carrier without it shutting off.

Exactly, only every time it's happened there has been so many other people in the game that i cant tell if you still continue to gain points twords capturing that carrier while its gone or not.

In my experience when you die on a carrier, not only do you start sliding around the ground when you respawn, but the timer restarts and counts down as you fly. Unless you can get to a carrier to start it over again in time, you die a second time.
