Sluggishness of taxiing seems to depend on the plane. For that matter, the planes do differ in handling, how fast they can taxi in a hard-over turn without tipping, how easy they are to nose-over, and how much stiction there is before you start moving.
Combined with differences in flight, some planes are easier to do the takeoff under deck thing. And land and stop/turn before hitting a wall
Certainly having a bomb on the belly is a factor too, which is why I like to capture the enemy carrier and let others on my team grab the blue one.
