A long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) the forum had a thing called karma that could be gained and lost. I remember some people, maybe mods, had the ability to manipulate it and it got out of hand so it was removed, I think. Seems to me the forum as a whole was a bit more pleasant back then. I do remember still seeing heated exchanges but seemed less frequent than now, and there just seemed to be less "dark side of the force" on the forum then. Maybe karma had something to do with this?

I remember Karma, but I don't think it was the mods that had the ability to manipulate it. What we refer to in mom as the karma Wars was players taking karma from other players One at a time until they were in the low low negative numbers.

The mods gave one Gina bandit thousands of karma bumps in less than 24 hours. Kinda became a game between them to see who could bump the most.

Actually it was everyone complaining about having Negative karma, Aaaaaand My self and another individual decided to see how low we could go, not that I was complaining. I didn't care. . We posted, In public on the forum for a Mod or Mod's to give us negavive Karma. it worked.... A Mod or 2 got involved as did many others in the DF community. It was as if everyone was voting for their favorite to get the most negative Karma. And boy did we get some negative karma. Yes, the Mod's could give negative karma. We both had thousands of negative karma instantly..... Was actually fun...

The reason for playing the negative karma? Because everyone was complaining about their negative karma... There was blameing of individuals for giving negative karma... I guess I should say, taking it away....

Same with all the other complaints.. I just got fed up and decided to have fun with it, so did everyone else,,, Well most of the community.

I think it would be more effective to remove the trolls and lighten the mood considerably if everyone had a ace of spades to give away, and if one person accumulated more than 10 of them their device would electrocute them.

I'm guessing it would be much more civil, quickly. Just a thought.
