Number 1 has to be forced, automatic even teams regardless of friend or squad affiliation. It's common to log on to a 1v4 or more fight, or have a 2v6 and your teammate quits for the other side because his squadmate is there. Half of the time I can't make out a single bad guy in the mess of fire and tags coming at me. Teams should never be more lopsided than one player.
Number 2, is reducing the forward hit bubble to near zero. The overwhelming majority of fights in the game are long distance, head-ons, which aren't dogfights at all. It doesn't teach BFM and isn't realistic. The only painful part of it would be the lack of a traditional PC stick with hat view switch to track enemies.
