My computer just randomly turned off and now the screen is black the start menu is empty my fingerprint scanner doesn't work and all my files ate erased.I was only online and downloading rise of flight when it crashed.

A virus? Not sure.

That's not a virus. A virus' main objective is to spread -- thus giving you a functional computer while taking away your ability to change/delete the virus (hence why it attacks the registry, doesn't allow you to use your web browser, etc).

I'm not sure why your bio-metric scanner no longer works. Have you since tried turning the computer on? Results?

I turned it on and I restored to a earlier time but that's when battlefield 1942 didn't work
I had the compatability set on windows 98 to play forgotten hope

It depends what you need a computer for.

I have a Macbook, and I use it primarily for my musical applications, like running a MIDI through my piano for recording. I also use the Mac for Logic, a music creation software. I think Mac is mostly for artistic application, such as photo, music, digital art, etc.

If you need a computer for general things like checking email, word processing, etc, I'd reccomend a Netbook. They are low cost, but have little processing power. It's fine for a student needing to do day-to-day computer jobs.

Just do some research before buying. What computer do you have now?
