This would keep the tanks out of the bases, but a good tank marksman could still shoot from a distance. That would make it easier for planes taking off. what do you all think?

This could be taken care of like when you get to close to the enemy airfield, in bomb the airport, and get shot down. you'll be able to parachute to the ground but it auto spawns you at your airfield.

I think that an anti-tank barrier would be great. There's no reason for a tank to be at the base especially not on the runway except to kill another tank that is already there. If you are gonna bomb hangars with a tank you can do it from a distance. In WWI they had AA and other ground forces at the bases so a tank most likely would never get that close to a base. As far as the AA thing goes, I think its good to leave that up to the fighter aircraft, but maybe a turret gun position could be fun if you get shot down and need to defend your base. It wouldn't only help against tanks but aircraft as well. Just make it so it doesn't take a lot of hits to destroy turrets for the air, treat it like a walking soldier in a fixed position with more fire power than one rifle. I think it would make games last longer and add to gameplay.
