What do y'all use. I used to just play with the phones speaker. Recently when trying to play quietly, I found that with ear buds I get good stereo sound and can hear where the enemy is when I can see them in a turning fight. Just wondering if anyone else knew about this already. Its also good for hearing which direction shots are coming from.

I play with sound off cause I'm hearing impaired, I sometimes play with headphones but the engine sound annoys the crap outta me

You are right about the enemy fire tho you can tell where they are or how close they are by the sound of their guns if you have a good headset.

I tried Bluetooth thru stereo speakers its insane ! But really pisses my wife off !

I use my earbuds. Not really for the gameplay, its just 'cause I play with music, and I like to hear the quality, without disturbing the household with Dubstep. :P

I play with the iPad's sound system because Dogfight won't flip over when I turn it upside down, and I find it irritating to have the headphones plugged in right where my itchy trigger finger goes.

I tried using my high quality headphones (as I'm a bit of an audiophile. All music on my computer is in the FLAC format, hahahah!)

However, Dogfight doesn't use extremely high quality sound so I use a set of Sony noise isolation earbuds. I turn off the engines because as farcanal said -- they are so annoying because it's the same audio file looped over and over.

Earbuds provide a supreme advantage as you can easily "hear" where your enemy is at -- and where the bullets are coming from. Definitely useful if you suddenly find someone on your six o'clock.

What kind of headphones do you use? I'm saving for Skullcandy Mixmasters.

I don't mind the engine. I think it adds a bit of realism, even if it is repetitive.

I use a pair of Shure SE530's.

I cannot stand Skullcandy. I was travelling and needed a quick pair of earbuds -- so I figured "Ah, I'll just buy a cheap pair of Skullcandy's". So I bought them. Opened it up out of the package -- and the right side was shorted. I returned it and got a different model for the same price. The molds on the silicon ear inserts were all messed up -- one being completely melted upon itself.

So I just exchanged it for a pair of $35 dollar Sony's. :P

Slenderman you've gotten your doses of good luck.
P.S. this is off topic, but I got reminded of it when i said good luck (I don't know why) how'd you become a moderator. And will we ever see a dark blue name on the front list (moderator) or are there only global moderators

Well, the main difference between a regular moderator and a global moderator -- is separate permissions. While both Global & regular Moderator's permissions are controlled by the discretion of the lead Administrator; the big difference is that regular moderators can only moderate one section of the forum. For example, "Gossip", "Support", etc. They only have control in those.

However, as Summer has passed (which was pretty chaotic) -- there isn't too big of a need for any Dogfight staff. Manfred has been on leave (and just returned! :)) but even so, I can get get through and read nearly every post on here every day.

As for how he became a mod, well, there's roughly 90 pages of the forum. Go read 'em. ;) It's in there, I promise.

I've been very happy with my Samsung earbuds that came with my phone. And I for one enjoy the engine sound it makes it seem more realistic. You can't mute an engine in a real open cockpit biplane.

If zuperman had used sound clips of real ww1 fighters it would be a lot worse. My brother has a CD of sounds of ww1 aircraft and let me tell you they weren't quite by any means. I think its a CD from the "round sounds collection. Y'all should look it up its fun to just sit and listen to planes in the background of any conversation.
