I have a decent collection. And now that I work around cash registers I get more all the time, especially at a liquor store because alcoholics will spend anything for liquor even if its somting worth a lot they spend it for face value. Then I buy it out of the register for face value hahaha.

I do not yet but, I did buy a metal detector (Garrett Ace 250) with idea of searching for old coins as well as anything else I may find.

Metal detectors are great fun! I have been metal detecting for years, mostly with cheap old detectors. My brother has a "White's Spectrum XLT" which is a little old now but was one of the best in its day.

I almost bought a White's but, I found a seller on Ebay who agreed to let me do a layaway. It was the metal with all accessories such as a sharpshooter search coil along with the main one, head phones, digging tool, electronic pin pointer, probe, sand scoop, tool pouch, and large zippered carrying case for it all. The sad thing is, I have hardly used it. I need to fix that.

I've got a half penny made 1794-1802, but it's so faded, you can barely tell what design it is, and the date is gone completely. I've got a bunch of old silver dollars from the 1800s, Morgans, a Half Eagle from the early 1900s, a ton of Indian Heads, a 20 cent piece, multiple 2 and 3 cent pieces, and a bunch more. Man, I forgot how many I had!

I have been collecting coins since I was eight. Im getting close to 30 now, so you can do the math. I have a fairly large collection and buy and sell all the time. I have got into cherry picking in the past couple of years and it has expanded my knowledge of numismatics greatly. Of course modern US coins with planchet errors or double dies are not the type of coins I collect. Good post, my other hobby. Ha.

The penny isnt worth much then.

I collected coins then when I had some they ended gone I think my family took them but some of them I have isnt really old

Now my sister found a coin siting on the ground and she picked it up it waz a huge coin 1 cent probaly all the way from 1700s or 1800s man I wanted that do bad and when I went to dc this lady gave me I 1 dollar coin very gold but very old she have it too me because I bought icecream and she waz givin me change back

Wasn't there a date on it? If it was a large cent, it was made sometime before the 1860's, no earlier than the late 1700's.
