Well, this game has hooked me. I was looking for an multi-user dog fighting app and stumbled across this one. Went through the practice sessions and quickly uninstalled! Did some more research and gave it another try when nothing better was out there. Boy, glad I did. After getting shot down pretty much every time I flew...well, that's not right...after crashing on take-off pretty much every time I tried, I started to get the hang of it.
One of the smartest things I did was to read through the entire forum (well, except for the stuff by CalvinIsAwesome - man he wears me out). Just kidding. Lots of good info but it did drive me crazy not finding a manual to help with this game. For you new guys out there, just keep plugging along. The crashes and splash downs are part of the learning curve. It will get better.
Since my first kill (I wish I could remember who it was), I've tried to rack up the points (and cash) to upgrade the planes. I grew tired of getting shot down by "inferior" pilots with better equipment only to find out that maybe they weren't inferior when I finally did upgrade. Side note - have you ever seen an Aspirant rank up on a kill? It's almost always on a safe landing in a parachute! Kinda funny.
Things that I enjoy (since you asked, right?):
1) Getting the best of a higher ranked opponent. Doesn't happen much but it sure is sweet.
2) The deflection shot from distance. (As opposed to the head-to-head battle.)
3) Hitting a carrier with a tank over and over again. (No idea why this is so much fun.)
4) Dogfights with lots of planes at once.
Things that need improvement:
1) Remove all tanks in the dogfight mode!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!! Can't have them in Zeppelin mode and I can actually see them making sense there since there are teams. No respect to those that spawn kill with tanks in dogfight mode (all other modes are fine).
2) Why show the name/rank of a plane on the other side of a mountain? How many mountain goats have I killed because of this?
3) Either my skill at driving a tank or the tank itself (it can't be me, right?). Sometimes I can't go forward but only backwards and vice versa? Nothing to do with the terrain.
4) My skill at bombing hangers. 50% I miss/50% I blow myself up.
As to the high and mighty who complain about getting shot on runways, get over yourself. If this were real and I had a chance to end you taking off or letting you get off the ground and settled I would do it. For those that do it to me...please stop! It's not nice.
And finally, to the top aces that I've met in the skies (Vampire, Yukikaze, Hell Cat, Rickenfaker, etc.), I'm coming for you. Get your kills in now because it will only get harder. Case in point, in a dogfight the other day with Rickenfaker I actually saw him once before he killed me. Yes, I'm getting better.
Until we meet in the skies,
Zandor
