I saw this on the tele and the special they did before it.

What a joke. He did it with a safety harness. Everyone before him never used a safety harness.

I dunno, I was just a bit perturbed how in the 20 minutes BEFORE the walk they say, "Oh yeah! And since he is a client of ABC, we're requiring him to wear a safety harness."

Lame.

Nike Wallenda is a joke. They said on the live coverage that it was Wallenda tradition to make a call on a cell phone in the middle of the crossing. Do they really expect people to believe that Karl Wallenda had a cell phone If he died in 1978?

Slenderman he was the first to walk over niagara falls and u have to wear a harness according to law. And he had it but never used it.
And no one has done dangerous thing in the USA without some kind of safety harness/procedure.

Have you seen the things they've done on Jackass? Everything from being in a small horse trailer with a King Cobra and a massive fan blowing it towards you to "slingshoting" yourself in their air (bungie style) in a porta-potty to putting a fishhook through your cheek and jumping into the ocean in an area populated full of sharks?

I'd like to argue those things are much more dangerous than walking on a line that if you fell -- you're not going to get hurt.

They had safety harness and stuff like that, other wise they could have gotton sued and other stuff, our govt is designed to protect the people.

Somehow I don't think the safety stuff was government-mandated, IMO more likely mandated by the TV network. Ironically, if their goal was to minimize legal exposure, it's entirely imaginable that dragging a safety line might have *caused* him imbalance and resulted in a problem. Sometimes best to leave performers alone and not mess with their act!
