I enjoy reading the forum almost as much as playing the game. However, I read something the other night about one of our fellow pilots and since I haven't seen this subject discussed here (it probably has been, but I've missed it), I'd like to bring it up. He's a war vet that plays with 1 hand. I assume it's due to a war injury and it got me to thinking. There must be many others out there, (from all countries) that have fought in REAL wars. Take a moment to leave them a note to say thank you to them and their families for the sacrafices they have made so we can all play this GAME. As a vet, I know what it's like to leave your loved ones behind to serve. Luckily, there was no war when I was in, so I've never had REAL bullets fired at me. Politics don't matter, and it doesn't matter what side you are on. Just remember not to take this game too seriously and just have fun. Send them all a note to let them know WE CARE! Please don't just say thanks at the bottom...leave them a note yourself.

Seeing this, I bowed my head and took a moment of silence to think about the loss, the injured, and the blessed that fought in the wars. As I do not believe in a god, these people are remarkably blessed in all ways. Whether they be from America, Germany, Iraq, I want to thank you for everything you done. Because whether you fought against us, or sided with us, you all are great for trying to bring peace to your homeland. Bless you.

One of my favorite pilots of all time, Duckwing1, was a sniper in the military. 96 kills. One arm, no legs. He was one of the best aces ive seen in this game. And yes, you heard me, he played with ONE HAND. he even used chat. His doctor reccomended something like this to speed recovery, and he estimated that it cut recovery time in half. He had to retire because it eventually became too painful, which was, in my oppinion, dogfights greatest loss.
See you in the skies!

u are correct that duck is the best to ever play. Plays with one hand and talks to u with something in mouth or his nose. He is the greats man to ever play this game. I have come acros some other vets. But no one as tough and great as Duckwing1 B)
P.S. He's back

Flymagic,
I saw your note and thought it was good-to-go.
Back in 2003, I flew the AH-1W during the push from Kuwait to Baghdad.

I agree with you completely-- DOGFIGHT is a fantastic game for many reasons (graphics, competitive play, WWI airplanes, etc), but one of the reasons I like it so much is the people who play it. They're great.

Thanks again for your "shout out" to the vets.

Semper Fidelis,

SB467

Right on Flymagic. My wife and I were both Air Force , same as you we weren't in any war (conflict). I got out just before the decision was made to go to kuwait. Voluntered to go back in as I was feeling really guilty that my friends had to go over. They were going to send me to Dover Air Force base loading C5's so I opted not to reenlist. As friends would come back they would tell me stories and try to relax my guilt feelings. It never really worked.

To all of those that have served and all those that will in the future THANK YOU.

Looking at this I couldn't resist to read your forum flymagic. My great-grandfather was in a war but I forgot what it was. Thank you for the recognition. :)

Thank God for all the veterans that went and joined the military in all countries cause they saw a lot of bad stuff

And I think there's only 1 ww1 veteran left.

Want to be inspired? For those who don't know the DUCK story RADAR, described it best.
Here are DUCK'S words upon leaving. Maybe some who read this won't whine about every little thing in their life. Search DUCK and see why people hated to see him go. A real CLASS-ACT.

Guys and Gals,

It's been a blast and I've enjoyed every minutes of it. Because of my injuries, specifically my hand ( considering I only have one ) I feel I've reached the highest level possible. B I promise to keep in touch, other friends I will drop in from time to time.

It's just gotten to painful to hold the iPad long enough to play several of the missions.
