That was me last night and it left me wondering if after 15 months of playing I've finally burnt out. I've tried to play only a little each day to avoid this but maybe I've finally reached the saturation point.

First game was zep and I left early as my wife wanted to talk to me so my attention was divided. The next three games were dogfight free for all which I won easily. I didn't really enjoy the games though and found myself getting bored and impatient during dogfights. It reached its peak in game 3 though.

I chased some guy named Altidude for about 3 or 4 minutes and it was just tedious. I never felt he was going to shoot me down but he spun and turned and ducked and went up and on and on. I used to find this exciting but it was more of a relief than anything when I finally got him. Next up was a guy in an Eindecker who kept landing on the carrier everytime I got a bullet in him. Land and hit brakes - it was torture really. Dawson came late to the game and we chased for a couple of minutes and then I crashed. Good thing as I really just wasn't into the effort of chasing him around. I spawned somewhere else and quickly won the game will kill number 16.

I then got bomb the base and here comes Rickenfacker. The usual result happened. Alot of chasing and I just got tired of it and left the game after several minutes of this. Final game is zep and here comes Dawson again. Once again after a couple minutes of chasing I left the game. These kind of chases in the past got me excited but I just didn't care enough to put out the effort. My final tally for the games I played was 51-8 which is a good night but it really wasn't that fun. I'm going on vacation for week so we'll see how I feel when I get back. No use playing if the excitement is gone. :(

Yeah, I know how that feels. I took a good 1 month break from Dogfight a long time ago. When I came back -- I found myself improved.

As with any game; it's best to take breaks. :)

Hey Cloud...here's an idea to play with. I've used it when I felt the way you feel now.

Fly inverted as much as possible. Get someone to join you and fly "airshows".
How many outside loops can you do. Can you land on the mountain top? Just a few ideas to add some spice! Enjoy your vacation. Paul

Thanks Paul and good idea. I really think I'd like a free flight version of the game where I could just fly around with everyone and enjoy the social aspect of the game. When I first started playing there were a few guys who would call a truce in game and we would all land at one hangar and just talk and joke around. It was a fun and different way to enjoy the game.

Suggested FF a long time ago.
Another thing I have done with new folks has been to play follow the leader. The bridge area is the best area. It's been fun when a new person tries to follow thru the stantions and wires. Then go inverted on them! The comments have been soooo funny!

Time for a break Cloud...I took one for about a month last Spring and it helped.....

I like the free flight idea....some nights I find myself enjoying the conversation more than the

flying ...and I get shot down way more lol......and one other thing when we meet you always

force a dogfight ..maybe try straight shooting for a while or bombing ..or flying in differnt

planes makes it more challenging i dont know if you noticed but in those dogfight games i was

flying a sopwith and the red baron just for fun...some nights I get way

lazy too and just like a head on fight bombing and maybe some tanking......just my two cents

I'd like to see a free flight game also... A couple of month's ago (maybe many months ago) Reid had me follow around and thru the bridge. It was actually great fun and relaxing. It would be fun to all park somewhere and watch others try these thing's... :)

Straight on shooting is often difficult for me because my samsung tab is very sensitive and jittery a lot of times. Sometimes it isn't and then I do well at straight on. General Jack has complained about the same thing. I tried my wife's smartphone and it was much more stable, but I prefer the tablet visually so I've adapted my game accordingly. I think a break is definitely needed. Maybe squad wars (if they ever happen!) will inject that excitement back into the game.

I find that getting killed frequently tends to keep things interesting :) I could even prove it to you if you'd just hold still long enough!

I agree it's nice to stay motivated. But If people like you leave Cloud then other folks may well get bored at the ease with which they can shoot people like me down :(

Another thing to try is: Tail slide...use throttle to "hover" pointing straight up.
Tough to do..but can be done.

I feel so lucky when I shoot somebody down during a chase. There are so many players who just slap me around. I look forward to the day when boredom is my main problem with this game!

I like the Free Flight idea, too. It's fun just to hang out in real time and chat and share and learn.

Hang in there cloud !

Enjoy your break and please don't leave us

Free flight would be cool especially if planes were still armed then impromptu games could be set up like all shooting down each other then staging a tank battle or a soldier shootout.

Or like Paul suggested just fly around trying tricks , I often try to fly thru the carrier if a game is quiet, only managed it twice tho.

The game definitely needs some new features to keep the seasoned players interested, it would be great if z could keep us informed of stuff in the pipeline from time to time .
Flying as farkinell and numerous other unmentionables.

Breaks are good I took about a 4-5 month break and coming back to the game was great! And since school has started I havnt been playing much, more like once a week or so, it makes playing a lot more enjoyable if you limit yourself to one or two games a week. Hope to see you back soon

I sometimes would like a break...but always find myself picking up my phone and playing dogfight....if i did end up taking a break, i believe i would lose my top 100 ranking and it would prolly be more difficult to get back to where i was...lol...doesnt matter much i guess...must be my competetive nature :)

The only time I have experienced anything close to multi player free flight was during the tribute flights for legendofkane, and it was some of the best fun I have had in this game. Everyone was flying just to fly, no objectives, no pressure, just relaxing stress free flight. I wish we had the option to fly like that more often.

Yeah Cloudbuster, taking breaks from the game are good. I do that lots of times with many games when I get bored of them. Then like eventually after a few weeks I start to think about the game again and find times to do it. You get more motivated in one particular game by playing the games you haven't for a while. :)

If I got a tally of 51-8 I'd be thrilled beyond belief.

As it is, the fact that despite that you're unmotivated, impatient, and lazy makes me incredibly depressed, since I'll never achieve anything like that. :(

Cloud, by all means, take a break. Don't touch the forum or the game for a solid month. Don't check PMs, don't meet up ingame, anything. Just be sure to come back, or I'll have to miss you. :P

Cloud, we'd miss you for sure, so do come back after your break...and if you are interested next time we're in game together just say "truce" and we can head for the hills to fly for the fun of it. I think Paul, Jacob,et al. all offer some great ideas for making DF a bit more interesting. I do know that the repeated spin cycle wears after a while. Who knows, I'm off during the upcoming week so I'll let you know if that breather helps...enjoy your break, but come back.... :S
