How I Viewed Dogfight As A Noob

As I approach my first year anniversary in Dogfight and look at the drama that others have created it causes me to look back and reflect... Reflect as these individuals that I used to look up to have become such sour poor sports in a simple online game, and in doing so have forced their opinions onto the creator of an awesome game, who now bows to their every wish and makes changes to suit their own wants and desires... Yes, admittedly as a noob in WW1, I used to look up to wanting to be like Bici, Cricket, CC Rider. Dognamitt, BStrachan, Acegirl, Walleye, Dix, Dunc, Blue Fighter, Mongo, Gizmo, Gawzilla, Sid Dickless, and Dark Rain...

After a few months though, certain traits of each of these fighters began to become apparent and visible to me and I had to make some decisions as to which type of player I wanted to be... I've earned my spot in the world on my own actions and choices and spending time in the US Army and over 25 years of being a Law Enforcement Officer gave me different views, values, and morals than most others... You see there are really 2 different types of people in this world and they are either a "Doer" or a "follower"... after being camped upon, spawn killed, hunted down, tank killed, berated personally online, and team killed by certain squads that seemed to always be dropping, switching sides and flying together, it brought up a visually apparent fact that most of these players were from just a couple squads... and most of them from M.O.M. As I progressed in game and after watching other like Acegirl, consistently dropping and sneaking, I began sneaking just to avoid these players and make some points in the game... admittedly a bad move on my part because I wasn't getting any better as a player, so I finally was invited to a squad that obviously seen something in me and I became a Dark Night.

Being part of Dark Night gave me a chance to finally be part of a team and I started learning new things and techniques, but the other problems still existed and there were many times I thought about giving it all up but Dark Rain and Von Kilner were there to pick me up and keep me in game. As the game progressed and changes were made, I began to see the true colors of every player in the game and then started seeing some of these other players using modern technology to advance themselves in game using lag to their advantage (as they are being taught by their leaders) and using lag switches. (As a side note on lag... the only person in a year that has accused me of lag is Gizmo... that speaks for itself but the fact is I have played in the same spot in my living room 90% of the time, and with the same device utilizing 4G, so you probably need to find another excuse for not being able to bring me down Gizmo) I continued playing with Dark Night and found myself flying more and more with players I deemed "respectable" which narrowed my list greatly. As with bad relationships, a smart person either stays or they divorce and move on and thus Dawn Patrol was born. I continued flying with Dark Night but something was missing... leadership. So being in the military and law enforcement I learned one thing... a well organized team/group will always prevail, so I made a hard decision a couple months ago and accepted an invitation to Dawn Patrol.

Wow!!! Probably the best decision I could have ever made and I stand here now proud to be part of such a group that has become a envy of so many others. But as usual... with something good, along comes the bad. BOOM! Along came a monster known as JEALOUSY! The most destructive force on earth! And for those of you that need refresher - Jealousy is a complex emotion that encompasses feelings ranging from fear of abandonment to rage and humiliation, striking both men and women, and is most typically aroused when a person perceives a threat to a valued relationship from a third party or rival.

So for all those people who are followers(the sheep) and special attention to Zuperman... jealousy will never prevail and I just ask that you open your eyes to facts - Dawn Patrol has a motto... "We Are As One" and each member is proud of that... we have rules and follow the rules of the game... We don't start these fights but we are obviously winning the battles after you open your mouths... you will never find yourself being spawn killed by a DP member, we only are allowed to sneak in equal games, and we do not camp. We are a group that likes to have fun flying and train together by our motto. We never switched sides to overcome a battle, we just live by our our motto. The sad part about this is that the rest of the players have become a group of grown up cry babies and have resorted to having their members switch side to team kill a lone DP member, having all their members as possible use lag switches and use lag to their advantage (yes this can be done), create 2nd, 3rd, and 4th accounts to use for squad wars and to set one device account in a game on a runway so that their other members and 1st accounts can come in and just shoot that one for points. Verbally abusing and berating DP members in games, WC, and forums.

But the worst part of all this is that the creator of such an awesome game, Zuperman, has caved into the moans and groans, the consistent crying, and the "our idea is better" conceptions. Zup you had a great game and yes it needed updated to Elite due to modern technology with new devices but now all of a sudden you're creating updates because now it's wrong to fly together as a team with your friends?! Wasn't a problem before when M.O.M., N.L.R., and T.F.L. were secure in their tops spots hmmmm... but now that there is a squad with good morals, not using immoral modern technology, and following the rules of the game, threatening the positions of the top spots the game has to be changed?! I have a favorite book that maybe you should read... Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, with one of my favorite excepts being -

"The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs, are, generally, easily influenced by the "opinions" of others. They permit the newspapers and the "gossiping" neighbors to do their "thinking" for them. "Opinions" are the cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has a flock of opinions ready to be wished upon anyone who will accept them. If you are influenced by "opinions" when you reach DECISIONS, you will not succeed in any undertaking, much less in that of transmuting YOUR OWN DESIRE into money. If you are influenced by the opinions of others, you will have no DESIRE of your own. Keep your own counsel, when you begin to put into practice the principles described here, by reaching your own decisions and following them. Take no one into your confidence, EXCEPT the members of your "Master Mind" group, and be very sure in your selection of this group, that you choose ONLY those who will be in COMPLETE SYMPATHY AND HARMONY WITH YOUR PURPOSE. Close friends and relatives, while not meaning to do so, often handicap one through "opinions" and sometimes through ridicule, which is meant to be humorous. Thousands of men and women carry inferiority complexes with them all through life, because some well-meaning, but ignorant person destroyed their confidence through "opinions" or ridicule. You have a brain and mind of your own. USE IT, and reach your own decisions. If you need facts or information from other people, to enable you to reach decisions, as you probably will in many instances; acquire these facts or secure the information you need quietly, without disclosing your purpose. It is characteristic of people who have but a smattering or a veneer of knowledge to try to give the impression that they have much knowledge. Such people generally do TOO MUCH talking, and TOO LITTLE listening. Keep your eyes and ears wide open--and your mouth CLOSED, if you wish to acquire the habit of prompt DECISION. Those who talk too much do little else. If you talk more than you listen, you not only deprive yourself of many opportunities to accumulate useful knowledge, but you also disclose your PLANS and PURPOSES to people who will take great delight in defeating you, because they envy you...."

Zup, it might be time to run your own game... As for the rest of you, it's really sad to see grown adults crying over a online game in front of the younger set and you should be ashamed of yourselves for taking this all to a new level and trying to destroy what was once an awesome game which let people be people and have fun playing a game... things change in life and we're supposed to adapt... things changed in the course and duration of wars and combatants adapted (they couldn't run back to the general and say "They aren't playing fair, pretty pretty please can you change the rules!!" Let Zuperman run his own game folks and stop your petty crying! Congratulations to all the cry babies... you're the ones ruining the game, not the noobs or those playing fair... and congratulations for slitting your own throats on moving up in the world ranks... your crying solidified your top spots in squad wars but it also solidified the top spots in world ranking for CC Rider, BStrachan, and the Honorable Bici! I for one am prepared to leave and never pay another dime to echoboom if this persists and trust me I will not go quietly and just might have a louder voice than you think....
Long winded but in closing with the famous words from Mongo -

"go back home and put your big boy pants on!"

TR I guess it "depends" on who you ask about the credit for the quote and as far as the picture goes I had to take you out of there or it would've been considered porn since you were the only one running around naked! lol

** side note though - I heard you wouldn't have gotten arrested for indecent exposure anyway... one of the cops said it something about a "lack of evidence" hehehehe

Few things you got wrong there, Wolfy.

First of all, I am certain that you have never had any personal dealings with Blie Fighter. If you had, you would know that he is one of the most kind hearted people you could ever happen upon. You may think that he is trying to influence this game in his favor by the posts that he makes, but you couldn't be farther from the truth. If you knew anything about him, you would know that he is only trying to help this place be a better one In fact, most people in NLR are like that. They really don't care about rivalries, but just fair play and a welcome forum. To a fault, in my opinion.

Secondly, I really don't know anybody that's jealous of you guys. I think it's hilarious that the DP was formed, and awesome that you all are fighting so strong! It's nice to have somebody keep ole MOM on her toes. Any ribbing you get is just part of the fun. Get over it. Some of your founding members were well known for doing the same thing when they were in the top squad.

Lastly, this is just a game. Some use it to blow off steam, some use it to make friends, some use it (and its glitches) to justify their overwhelming sense of superiority, and some (like me) use it because we're just masochists. Stop taking it all so seriously, and either have fun with it, or pull your hair out.

Just my two cents

To paraphrase:

M.O.M is really freaking awful... the other squads can be OK, but are usually just uncool. Thank God I'm in Dawn Patrol surrounded by free thinkers that agree with me on most things. I know this because I was in the army and a cop. It's kind of hard to tell, I'm looking down my nose at the rest of you, and still can't really see that well. I'm not trying to brag that I am morally superior, but it should be really obvious that I am. I am not crying or whining, but it is really sad that the rest of you sorry sacks of puss don't play the game the way I want it played. You are an absolute piece of shit if you use a secret "lag machine." Blah, blah, blah... M.O.M are shitbags. All hail Dawn Patrol and her virgin's honor!

I think that about does it. :)

Hey TX,
Thank you for paraphrasing this long winded diatribe towards some of seasoned players and squads in this most glorious game of Dogfight Elite.

Let me unparaphase it.

As I approach my 5 year anniversary in Dogfight and look at the entertainment that others have created it causes me to look back and judge... Judge as these individuals that I used to look up to have become such sour great sports in a simple online game, and in doing so have forced their expert opinions onto the creator of an awesome game, who now takes their advice to makes changes to the game to betterment of all.... Yes, admittedly as a noob in WW1, I looked up to players like Boco, Chicklet, ezRider, GoDamitt, BStrapon, AceWoman, The Fish, Le Dix, DunK, Blue Moon Fighter, Bongo, Jizzmo, Cawzilla, Dick Sidless, and Light Drizzle...

After a few months though, certain traits of each of these fighters began to become apparent and visible to me and I had to make some decisions as to which type of player I wanted to be... I've earned my spot in the world on my own actions and choices and spending time in the Boy Scouts and over 2.5 years of being a security guard at Macy's gave me different views, values, and morals than most others... You see there are really 345,278 different types of people in this world. I have come to the conclusion that these people are either "sheep" or "goats". This categorization helps me in simplifying categories in which to put people in... after being camped upon, spawn killed, hunted down, tank killed, berated personally online, and team killed by certain squads that seemed to always be dropping, switching sides and flying together, it brought up a visually apparent fact that most of these great players were from just a couple squads... and most of them from the most glorious squad, MOTHERS. As I digressed in my ability to improve my skills at playing this game. I watch other players such as Ace Woman, who demonstrated the perfected art of dropping and sneaking to gain a tactical advantage over players who stream up the middle like lemmings going over a cliff. ( sheep comparison fit in here so it seems logical I do the same) I tried to mimmic this game play but took heat from other players for not following their pre-subscribed set of roolz. I eventually became a mediocre player and was invited to a squad that obviously seen something in me and I became a Tight Knight.

Being part of Tight Knight gave me a chance to finally be part of a team, a sense of belonging that sheep so desperately crave. I started learning new things and techniques, but the other problems still existed and there were many times I thought about giving it all up but Light Drizzle and Don Carlos were there to keep me in game. As the game progressed and changes were made, I began to see the true colors of every player in the game, the red ones and the blue ones. I started seeing some of these other players using modern technology to advance themselves in game using high speed internet, modern cellphones and tablets. Some were evening using PC's. Those personal computers are really awesome for playing online games. Now I really have no proof of players using lag switches to their advantage but I will make the assumption they are using them. (as they are being taught by their leaders) (As a side note on lag... the only person in a year that has accused me of lag was Jizzmo. We don't hold that against him. Jizzmo usually plays dogfight after returning from the pub. Everything is blurry and lags after coming from the pub. The fact is I have played in the same spot in my living room 90% of the time, and with the same device utilizing 4G, fresh depends and a bowl of cheese doodles. Jizzmo had found another excuse. There are only four servers. Two in north America and two in Europa. Sometimes when players join a game from some other part of the world, the game lags. Users with perfect morals can lag too. I continued playing with White Knight and found myself flying more and more with players I deemed "respectable" which narrowed my list greatly, three at my last count. As with bad relationships, a smart person generally avoids them before getting in too deep. I on the other hand couldn't resist joining a troubled squad so I abandoned the squad that showed me promise for the lure of so called greatness. The illusion of leadership and a well organized team drew me in. Remember, I categorize people into two groups, sheep and goats, perfect Fit

So for all those people who are the sheep, I just ask that you open your eyes to the goats - Ding Dang Dong Patrol has a motto... "We Think as One" and each member is proud of that... we have rules and obey the rules of the game... we are not really sure of the roolz so we make our own up that we insist others abide. We don't start these fights but we are obviously involved in some manner either provoking or whining about some infraction. So after you open your mouths... We have become a group of grown up cry babies and have resorted to having our cake and eating it too. Our members will switch side to unbalance a game to ensure that maximum points are gained either through farming corn or taking as many hangers as we can.

But the best part of all this is that the creator of such an awesome game, Zuperman, has caved into our moans and groans at some time in the history of the game. We only complain when it obviously puts us at a disadvantage to our own roolz. Remember, If it is our idea, it can only be better. Don't listen to anyone else's input. Zup you had a great game and yes it needed updated to Elite due to modern technology with new devices but now all of a sudden you're creating updates because now it's wrong to fly together as a team with your friends?! Wasn't a problem before those awful squads, MOTHERS, OLD MOON UNITS, AND THE FAMILIAR LEGIONETTES were secure in their tops spots "JEALOUSY OR JUST SOUR GRAPES" I know I ranted earlier about it but "do as I say not as I do is also an unwritten rool" Now that there is a squad with good morals, not using immoral modern technology, and following the rules of the game, threatening the positions of the top spots the game has to be changed?! I have a favorite book that maybe you should read... Rochelle Rochelle, A young girl's journey from Milan to Minsk. - by Vladimir Nabokov

"The novel is narrated by Humbert, who riddles the narrative with word play and his wry observations of American culture. The novel's flamboyant style is characterized by double entendres, multilingual puns, anagrams, and coinages such as nymphet, a word that has since had a life of its own and can be found in most dictionaries, and the lesser-used "faunlet". Most writers see Humbert as an unreliable narrator and credit Nabokov's powers as an ironist. For Richard Rorty, in his interpretation Contingency, Irony, and Solidarity, Humbert is a "monster of incuriosity." Nabokov himself described Humbert as "a vain and cruel wretch"and "a hateful person."

Zup, it might be time to run your own game... As for the rest of you, it's really sad to see nymphets and faunlets crying (sheep inference) over a online game in front of the younger gamers. You should be proud of yourselves for taking this all to a new level, trying to improve what is still an awesome game which let people be people and have fun playing a game. The game has changed, it is called Dogfight Elite, the game will change over time so it is best for all to adapt, change you flying style, and get on with the GAME.

IT IS NOT REAL, JUST A GAME. YOU WONT GET HONOUR, VALOUR, OR INTEGRITY FROM PLAYING A GAME ONLINE. IF YOU THINK THAT WAY. GET A LIFE!
Long winded but in closing, don't take it so seriously!

There are no famous words in this game, so I won't quote another player. We don't need another inflated ego. The game has plenty.

Congratulations for those who read this and get it, for those who don't. Well........enjoy the game never the less.

To paraphrase:

I mock you. Add in a little snark for flavor. Definitely some more grade A mockery. Mockery mock mock mock... M.O.M is not awful. The other squads are OK too. Everyone is actually an instigating shit. Mock mock mock. We agree that this game is fun. I've played a lot longer than you, so get off my damn lawn. Mock mock mock.

I think that about covers it. ;)

Bingo wrote: Hey TX,
Thank you for paraphrasing this long winded diatribe towards some of seasoned players and squads in this most glorious game of Dogfight Elite.

Wow WolfRider,

That part in blue is quite the sociopathic/objectivist manifesto. Napoleon Hill is obviously a disciple of Ayn Rand (edit. Oops. Hill came before Rand) a bit heady and off topic for this crowd, no? Since you went there: While it makes perfect sense to the social cripple who shares this perspective, the rest of society can stand back and easily see, and sometimes laugh at, the absurd conflict of absolutism and inaccuracy in statements like:

" If you are influenced by "opinions" when you reach DECISIONS, you will not succeed in any undertaking, much less in that of transmuting YOUR OWN DESIRE into money. "

That's the type of people who's business practices create the need for regulations to prevent predatory business practices instead of being able to enjoy a healthy free market.

Since I was told buy you that I had lost all my talking privileges let me type something in about all the drama.
So, I read all your story and I must say that buy the time I got to the blue part attention deficit started to kick in, because that quote was all over the place and u did not even gave credit to the original author. But I manage to read every word and sentence u wrote and after all that, the important thing that you wanted to communicate was in the last lines. In those last words is were u show your true colors and what the game is for u.

“and congratulations for slitting your own throats on moving up in the world ranks... your crying solidified your top spots in squad wars but it also solidified the top spots in world ranking for CC Rider, BStrachan, and the Honorable Bici!” ( Wolfrider)

U play the game just for the points! you play the game just to level up! you play the game to rank up your squadron. You enjoy nothing!
You just thinking on achieving the Holy grail of MOARF. Is that bad? No! What is bad is the method you are using to achieve it. Farming points…hey good for u no problem with that I even made a banner for u guys when others were mocking u because I thought you were doing nothing wrong. But u drifted away from just the farming, u just did not want no one playing the ww2 games so u can rack up as many points as you need. Nothing wrong with raking up points, but where you did me wrong and others, is when you on purpose started to drive players away from the ww2 games. That is bad for the game and bad for business.

I was told why are u here? U use to play ww1 games, was like a go away we own this space. Then I was told I was interrupting the sever that you use for practice sessions. I wonder if zuperman if charging an extra fee for renting the courts. So, for a few days I tried to figure out what was the deal and what I saw is that less and less players were playing ww2. I saw the same 6 to 8 players shifting to one side to drive away anyone that dare to interfere with their unannounced practice sessions and manipulate the system to get the same bring down the bomber game over and over again. That sounds so fun! I am sure subscribers will be giving away their credit cards to play on a place where they are not welcome.

But back to the most valuable point of your manifesto, the squad wars and the top spots; the thing that makes u pay a subscription and now that it is in danger, you will just quit. I must say the craving you show to try and reach the top is clouding your judgment. I have always been nice to all of you, and what I ask of u was to separate what I thought was a friendship from a single game, and you just were not able to do that. We play as one! We are MEN! We are manly MEN! It was disappointing.

The excuse I was giving for your punishment behavior of 6 vs me was, 'you are to be blame for how the game has been ruined'. So, that was my punishment? A beat down? Because I made a few awards for the HOH to give recognition to the accomplishments of the players of our community? I just think you are looking for any excuse or for anyone to blame for the way you are conducting yourself on your path to achieve MOARF and level your team to number one.

The irony of all this is that you say you are in the military, and I have the most respect for the mean and women that serve our country but the path you have chosen to take or fallow is not the right one. Luna is also in the military and you have never seen her lead her squadron on such a disregard for the other players. New Luna Republic is top squadron and has never gone to the lengths of taking over the servers for days to play only one sided games and run players away. You talk about Vivek? What??? A player that helps everyone in the community and makes sure the game is fun for all. Are you serious?? What to say about the Honorable Bici? Just that ...he is one of the most honorable player in the game, and in my view and I know in the view of many; he is the only MOAF that has made it all the way to the top playing against other players and having fun; not just shooting the blimp.

In conclusion if you are going to be pointless on your arguments best keep it short. We get that what u are angry about is because your happy time of abuse is over. But don’t worry you will figure out a new scheme. U all know what you are doing and the community in general knows to, no need to try to blame it on the moon light (Michael Jackson).

Congratulations to u on managing to bring change to the game in such a positive way.

The sad part of all this is it seemed everyone got along, more or less, prior to the roll out of squad wars. Now it seems more people are critical of others playing style than ever before, and pandemonium has followed.

Oh, there were rivalries, some heated debates even, but nothing on the scale of the last few months. A lot more folks get along a lot less than they ever had.

What happened to the philosophy of just watching a player and seeing how they play, then countering that style if you can, or leaving the game if you didn't like it? Are squad war points really that important? Perhaps a better question, are squad war points others have really that important?

A correct observation, Viper. Now I freely admit my status as a pot stirrer, and my membership in a squad of miscreants that loves to stir the pot. All things are cyclic. Where do our rules come from? They we're settled on by .wig and a few others. The game has evolved. Very few in M.O.M will tell you to play a certain way. This wasn't always true. I stir the pot because rivalries and trash talk make the game more enjoyable. I try not to engage with those who don't enjoy it, but collateral damage happens! None of any points matter except to the people they matter too. I have been in this game 5ish years with no MORAF credentials to show for it. Oh well.. I like to think I give it as good as anyone in the game. If I can't adapt to play and stop having fun, I bail on the game. However, Wolfy's rant that he's not being judgmental while being judgmental really grates. It certainly does not help spread good will and all that I mumbo jumbo. Now get off the Forum, and get in the game Viper! I haven't seen you in a while!

Agree. I don't even check points---why bother? Since this whole game became PointFight I rarely play.

I've said this before (god, it's like Ground Hog's Day here, but with less players!) Squad Wars was sold as a game where squads could challenge one another in a friendly match up. Instead we were cut to 50 limit in squads and it never happened. What we got was a giant spreadsheet of points.

Fun? No, as Viper points out we used to get along and enjoy games.

It's POINTLESS. Pun intended.

Oh, and Happy Monday!
