How I Viewed Dogfight As A Noob
As I approach my first year anniversary in Dogfight and look at the drama that others have created it causes me to look back and reflect... Reflect as these individuals that I used to look up to have become such sour poor sports in a simple online game, and in doing so have forced their opinions onto the creator of an awesome game, who now bows to their every wish and makes changes to suit their own wants and desires... Yes, admittedly as a noob in WW1, I used to look up to wanting to be like Bici, Cricket, CC Rider. Dognamitt, BStrachan, Acegirl, Walleye, Dix, Dunc, Blue Fighter, Mongo, Gizmo, Gawzilla, Sid Dickless, and Dark Rain...
After a few months though, certain traits of each of these fighters began to become apparent and visible to me and I had to make some decisions as to which type of player I wanted to be... I've earned my spot in the world on my own actions and choices and spending time in the US Army and over 25 years of being a Law Enforcement Officer gave me different views, values, and morals than most others... You see there are really 2 different types of people in this world and they are either a "Doer" or a "follower"... after being camped upon, spawn killed, hunted down, tank killed, berated personally online, and team killed by certain squads that seemed to always be dropping, switching sides and flying together, it brought up a visually apparent fact that most of these players were from just a couple squads... and most of them from M.O.M. As I progressed in game and after watching other like Acegirl, consistently dropping and sneaking, I began sneaking just to avoid these players and make some points in the game... admittedly a bad move on my part because I wasn't getting any better as a player, so I finally was invited to a squad that obviously seen something in me and I became a Dark Night.
Being part of Dark Night gave me a chance to finally be part of a team and I started learning new things and techniques, but the other problems still existed and there were many times I thought about giving it all up but Dark Rain and Von Kilner were there to pick me up and keep me in game. As the game progressed and changes were made, I began to see the true colors of every player in the game and then started seeing some of these other players using modern technology to advance themselves in game using lag to their advantage (as they are being taught by their leaders) and using lag switches. (As a side note on lag... the only person in a year that has accused me of lag is Gizmo... that speaks for itself but the fact is I have played in the same spot in my living room 90% of the time, and with the same device utilizing 4G, so you probably need to find another excuse for not being able to bring me down Gizmo) I continued playing with Dark Night and found myself flying more and more with players I deemed "respectable" which narrowed my list greatly. As with bad relationships, a smart person either stays or they divorce and move on and thus Dawn Patrol was born. I continued flying with Dark Night but something was missing... leadership. So being in the military and law enforcement I learned one thing... a well organized team/group will always prevail, so I made a hard decision a couple months ago and accepted an invitation to Dawn Patrol.
Wow!!! Probably the best decision I could have ever made and I stand here now proud to be part of such a group that has become a envy of so many others. But as usual... with something good, along comes the bad. BOOM! Along came a monster known as JEALOUSY! The most destructive force on earth! And for those of you that need refresher - Jealousy is a complex emotion that encompasses feelings ranging from fear of abandonment to rage and humiliation, striking both men and women, and is most typically aroused when a person perceives a threat to a valued relationship from a third party or rival.
So for all those people who are followers(the sheep) and special attention to Zuperman... jealousy will never prevail and I just ask that you open your eyes to facts - Dawn Patrol has a motto... "We Are As One" and each member is proud of that... we have rules and follow the rules of the game... We don't start these fights but we are obviously winning the battles after you open your mouths... you will never find yourself being spawn killed by a DP member, we only are allowed to sneak in equal games, and we do not camp. We are a group that likes to have fun flying and train together by our motto. We never switched sides to overcome a battle, we just live by our our motto. The sad part about this is that the rest of the players have become a group of grown up cry babies and have resorted to having their members switch side to team kill a lone DP member, having all their members as possible use lag switches and use lag to their advantage (yes this can be done), create 2nd, 3rd, and 4th accounts to use for squad wars and to set one device account in a game on a runway so that their other members and 1st accounts can come in and just shoot that one for points. Verbally abusing and berating DP members in games, WC, and forums.
But the worst part of all this is that the creator of such an awesome game, Zuperman, has caved into the moans and groans, the consistent crying, and the "our idea is better" conceptions. Zup you had a great game and yes it needed updated to Elite due to modern technology with new devices but now all of a sudden you're creating updates because now it's wrong to fly together as a team with your friends?! Wasn't a problem before when M.O.M., N.L.R., and T.F.L. were secure in their tops spots hmmmm... but now that there is a squad with good morals, not using immoral modern technology, and following the rules of the game, threatening the positions of the top spots the game has to be changed?! I have a favorite book that maybe you should read... Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, with one of my favorite excepts being -
"The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs, are, generally, easily influenced by the "opinions" of others. They permit the newspapers and the "gossiping" neighbors to do their "thinking" for them. "Opinions" are the cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has a flock of opinions ready to be wished upon anyone who will accept them. If you are influenced by "opinions" when you reach DECISIONS, you will not succeed in any undertaking, much less in that of transmuting YOUR OWN DESIRE into money. If you are influenced by the opinions of others, you will have no DESIRE of your own. Keep your own counsel, when you begin to put into practice the principles described here, by reaching your own decisions and following them. Take no one into your confidence, EXCEPT the members of your "Master Mind" group, and be very sure in your selection of this group, that you choose ONLY those who will be in COMPLETE SYMPATHY AND HARMONY WITH YOUR PURPOSE. Close friends and relatives, while not meaning to do so, often handicap one through "opinions" and sometimes through ridicule, which is meant to be humorous. Thousands of men and women carry inferiority complexes with them all through life, because some well-meaning, but ignorant person destroyed their confidence through "opinions" or ridicule. You have a brain and mind of your own. USE IT, and reach your own decisions. If you need facts or information from other people, to enable you to reach decisions, as you probably will in many instances; acquire these facts or secure the information you need quietly, without disclosing your purpose. It is characteristic of people who have but a smattering or a veneer of knowledge to try to give the impression that they have much knowledge. Such people generally do TOO MUCH talking, and TOO LITTLE listening. Keep your eyes and ears wide open--and your mouth CLOSED, if you wish to acquire the habit of prompt DECISION. Those who talk too much do little else. If you talk more than you listen, you not only deprive yourself of many opportunities to accumulate useful knowledge, but you also disclose your PLANS and PURPOSES to people who will take great delight in defeating you, because they envy you...."
Zup, it might be time to run your own game... As for the rest of you, it's really sad to see grown adults crying over a online game in front of the younger set and you should be ashamed of yourselves for taking this all to a new level and trying to destroy what was once an awesome game which let people be people and have fun playing a game... things change in life and we're supposed to adapt... things changed in the course and duration of wars and combatants adapted (they couldn't run back to the general and say "They aren't playing fair, pretty pretty please can you change the rules!!" Let Zuperman run his own game folks and stop your petty crying! Congratulations to all the cry babies... you're the ones ruining the game, not the noobs or those playing fair... and congratulations for slitting your own throats on moving up in the world ranks... your crying solidified your top spots in squad wars but it also solidified the top spots in world ranking for CC Rider, BStrachan, and the Honorable Bici! I for one am prepared to leave and never pay another dime to echoboom if this persists and trust me I will not go quietly and just might have a louder voice than you think....
Long winded but in closing with the famous words from Mongo -
"go back home and put your big boy pants on!"
