I just wanted to offer a place to drop that nagging thought or wise saying or whatever else that you think others might appreciate.... favorite poems or song lyrics included.... Please no personal attacks and if possible give credit where it's due.... Enjoy!!

A starter from one of my favorite authors from the younger days....

How about one of those bathroom wall sayings

one more....

Self-importance is our greatest enemy. Think about it - what weakens us is feeling offended by the deeds and misdeeds of our fellowmen. Our self-importance requires that we spend most of our lives offended by someone.”

i've been checking into the multiverse theory for a little while now.

in short it is believed that multiple universes exist like bubbles in the swiss cheese. they are constantly being formed and a theory is that when a black hole becomes so massive it collapses it would "pop" out the other side and start a big bang for a new galaxy.

oh! that is wild stuff.

This line is from a videogame, but wherever I look, that one will always pop in my mind

"You think you can stop the bloodshed by shedding more blood? having all those ideals swimming around in your head is gonna get you killed"

-Larry "Solo wing Pixy" Foulke- From the game "Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War"

I don't know, some people think they can resolve a years-long conflict by killing everybody, in the end they're killed.

Thoughts to ponder...
Hmmm, let's see.

Here is one that has been in my head a lot lately:

Nanotechnology, specifically graphene.

From Wiki
Graphene (/ˈɡræf.iːn/)[1] is pure carbon in the form of a very thin, nearly transparent sheet, one atom thick.

Graphene is remarkably strong for its very low weight (about 100 times stronger than steel[2]) and it conducts heat and electricity with great efficiency.[3] While scientists had theorized about graphene for decades, it was first produced in the lab in 2003.[4] Because it is virtually two-dimensional, it interacts oddly with light and with other materials. Researchers have identified the bipolar transistor effect, ballistic transport of charges and large quantum oscillations.

So, it is strong, it's the most impervious material known (even hydrogen cannot pas through it), it is very light, it has semi-conductor properties, it conducts heat and electricity far better than gold. It can be made to form electronic circuitry far smaller than anything that has ever been done on silicon. It can 'self arrange' circuits. AND it can be photovoltaic (can convert light into electrical current) or thermovoltaic (produce electric current from heat diferentials between two surfaces)

So among other applications it can be used to create self-powered microscopic programmable devices.

It was only discoverd in 2003 but it has been the subject of fantastic discoveries and will change our world in ways that have only been previously imagined. I could go on and on but lots of better minds than mine are already on it.

Check it out:

Search "graphene discoveries"

Or follow the nanotechnology section of phys.org
(This website is a feast for all who are interested in cutting edge science !)

One atom thick?!!!

If there are an infinite number of points between 0 and 1 ( behind the comma) you never could mark them all in in a graphic.

So how can we just draw a line in math class and assume it even ís one?
That line is the sum of an infinite number of points, so you are never done compiling them for your line.

How does anything move even an inch, if it would take for ever to reposition in all those positions in between that inch?

Any wonder I got such bad grades for math in school?

Infinity is infinitely large, so is it possible to have different quantities of infinity?

Well, if you have a string that is infinitely long then you have an infinite amount of string, right? How can you have more string than one that is infinitely long? By having 2 strings that are infinitely long.

My Grandfather was always the positive one. The optimist.
One day he said "It's not a problem, unless there's no solution. I like the word" obstacle""
That has stuck with me for many years :)
